WARBIRDS OVER TEXAS 2012
These instructions will help insure the safety of the spectators, the pilots, and finally the aircraft during official event hours. This is an AMA sanctioned event. Please observe all AMA regulations and the following event specific rules.

AMA event regulations
Ground Operations:
1.
All 72 MHz transmitters must be impounded at the impound desk during
show hours. An AMA card is
required to check radios out from impound.
Please be kind to your fellow flyers and return radios as soon as
your flight is completed.
2.
Inaugural flights will not be allowed during event hours.
3.
Aircraft starting line is in the center taxiway.
Please queue up two lines of planes behind the starter lines.
Do not block flight operation.
Post-flight aircraft exit on the upwind,
edge of the runway on the pit side only.
4.
The Airboss, CD, or Event Organizer has the right to prohibit the flying
of any plane due to safety or other concerns.
5.
Only pilots, their spotters, and air control staff will be allowed at
the pilot stations.
6.
Each pilot must be at a pilot station before requesting taxi/takeoffs.
The spotter must maintain
physically control the aircraft until takeoff authorization is
granted.
7.
Airplane engine run-up and tuning will be allowed only at the designated
areas at the far ends of the pilot stations with prop wash away from
runway center. Please
minimize run-up times and mechanically restrain the aircraft.
8.
No smoking or use of cell phones in areas bounded by the taxi ways and pilot stations
9.
As always alcohol consumption is prohibited prior to or during flying activities.
Flight Operations:
1.
Traffic control will be coordinated by the Airboss and has final
approval in all situations.
2.
All sorties must have a spotter. The spotters will:
a.
Physically control the aircraft until takeoff permission is granted.
b.
Watch other aircraft and advise the pilot on collision avoidance.
c.
Request takeoffs, landings, low passes, man-on runway, etc. with the
airboss. Two way radios will be provided for each pilot/spotter to
facilitate spotter/airboss/fellow spotter communication.
If you do not have a radio, do not fly.
d.
Spotter will advise pilot of radio communication.
e.
Remove aircraft from flight area due to loss of power.
3.
Landings requests will take precedence over takeoffs.
Dead stick landings have the highest priority.
Please plan ahead and not create a situation where you are low on
fuel and need an emergency land.
4.
Fly in a racetrack pattern in the direction as defined by the airboss
and the wind indicator. No
hotdog or 3D flying.
5. Absolutely no flying will be allowed west of the east (far) edge of the runway with the exception of landing and take offs. This dead line is extended from horizon to horizon
6.
Without exception, all power maneuvers will be directed away from the
pit area and spectators.
